MGA Kitty and other MGA pets

The MGA virtual pets are among the more popular and perhaps well known virtual pets with collectors. They have a nice charm to them that is much like the nano pets. At the same time they are pretty easy going and not too overly demanding. The characters are also quite cute and the animations are nice.

The type of animals available for the MGA pets are; cat, dog, bunny, dinosaur, fish, bear, penguin, and I believe I've got them all!

I myself currently own the "lotsa pets" which is the dog, penguin and bear all in one, as well as a mga kitty and mga dinosaur.

They come in a variety of shells sometimes listed as a different pet. For example as you can see in my photos below the shell my kitty is in, is a teetee kitty shell, which is actually an entirely different cat virtual pet. But this isn't really an uncommon happening in the virtual pet world.

All MGA pets have the same 7functions plus the warning icon. (order of icons could potentially vary depending on the pet)

The first being the food icon where you normally have a choice of two foods. Once your MGA pet is full he will refuse food when you try to select the food icon.

Second is sleep, you can turn the lights on or off, naturally when you see little z's above the pet it's time to turn the lights out! From what I remember they go to bed rather late, and wake up around 8-9a.m. I believe.

The next icon is your game icon, the same staple left right guessing game! :) I find that I have a hard time winning these darn games lol. Pretty easy though and fun. Though I must say I do wish they had two game options like the nanos had.

The icon after that is the medicine icon, to be honest i've yet to have to use this one, I mean you'd probably REALLLLLLY have to neglect it to have to use this option. I'm sure it's much the same as any other vpet where it either shows a shot or a ambulance.

Then we have the cleanup icon. Unlike nanos the MGA pets don't take baths, the cleanup icon is only for cleaning poo. When it poops on the screen you select this icon and it shows the poop going into a trashcan.

Up next is your stats icon, which displays happiness, hunger and discipline, as well as age and weight.
I find that they are rather simple to fill, takes a little time sometimes.

Then we have the discipline icon, which shows you like clapping your hands at the pet or maybe hitting them...kind of awful lol.

The last icon is the alert icon, which pops up whenever they need assistance.

Below are some images of my MGA kitty pet so you can see some of the pictures! :) you can also google MGA virtual pet and search images and videos for further info on them! If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

Ganbare!! Ryuuta-kun/My baby dinosaur

Ganbare/My baby dinosaur virtual pet

So I got this pet a little while ago with my penpy virtual pet for a steal of a price :). I already had the baby bat and dog vpet version of this so figured i'd get the dino to make it complete!
He's pretty interesting. When you start him up it automatically starts the time at 12am and starts ticking, BUT in order for him to hatch you have to go back in and set the real time, otherwise it'll stay in it's hatching egg forever lol.

So...one thing about this pet is that it's VERY VERY loud! You can shut the sound off though once it's hatched from it's egg by pressing the 2nd and 3rd button at the same time.

When you start it up and set the time a dinosaur comes by and drops a egg and then it goes through the hatching phase, once hatched it turns into this funky shaped dino that moves but not around the screen just in one spot.

The Icons and functions:

The first icon is the status one, you can check it's stats, discipline, happiness and hunger (that's the order they go in) Pretty self explanatory
The next icon is food, you can feed it a meal on the right or a treat on the left...I find it odd the treat is listed first haha. (not sure yet if those change at all yet but will find out eventually!)
The next icon is the game which was confusing for me. I had to actually look it up on the virtualpetfarm site to see how the game works. But it's a guessing game. "Playing games with the baby dinosaur is important so he does not get bored. The object of the game is to guess the number of faces displayed will be odd or even. Press Key 1 for odd, and Key 2 for even. If your guess is correct, the baby dinosaur will not be happy and a crying face will show on the display. If your guess is incorrect, the baby dinosaur will be happy because he has won the game. In this case, a laughing face will show on the display. The dinosaur is happiest when you let him win! " -http://www.tamenagerie.com/dinoinstr.html

The next icon after the game one is a heart icon which is different from most vpets. This icon is for giving your pet love by petting it I think! You can do this to raise happiness, but if you do it too much he will yell at you!
Onto the next icon which is the education/teaching icon. This is your discipline icon. If you do this it will make him happy, but like the love icon, if you do too much it'll yell at you!

Then we move onto the bottom row of icons.
The first is the cleaning icon, when he poops it doesn't show on the main screen, it's sort of a guessing game it seems. I will always try that first when the alert icon comes on. You select the icon and then select again to clean, much like other options where you have to "double select"
Next icon we have is the clothing one. You have to put his pajamas on before bed and when he wakes up you have to take them off! Kind of a cute thing!
After that one we have the medicine icon for when he gets sick, I tried to catch a screenshot of that animation because it was kind of cute, but couldn't get it quick enough.
And lastly is the put to bed icon. Pretty self explanatory. Just a note...this one seems to have a very very weird sleep schedule...I've checked the clock multiple times to make sure that I set the time right...but it sleeps from like 1 or 2am till super late in teh day :x

Packaging :)

So far it's a fun pet, again another rather easy not too demanding pet, but not boring. It's unique and different from most vpets i've owned or have. The only complaint I have is the darn sound! Lol but that is easily remedied by turning it off.

Penpy

Penpy Virtual Pet

I sort of already knew what this pet was after reading a tiny bit on tamamenagerie.com, but not all the details! I really like the packaging as you can see in my photos it's got all kinds of little adorable penguin images and it's colorful and even the directions inside were detailed and had little pictures as well, which is a nice break from the standard boring english instructions we tend to get from virtual pets.
The casing is pretty, it comes in a few colors, red, yellow, purple and a couple others I believe. It's a different shape from the typical too a little bit oval. My only big beef with this design is the buttons are plastic and sometimes not super responsive. I found myself pressing down harder to get it to respond. I just never really liked plastic buttons.

The pet itself is adorable, you set the time and he goes through a hatching phase and bursts out of the egg. At the beginning much like most gyaoppi styled virtual pets he's just a floating head, but a cute one for sure.

At the top of the screen your first option is food, and again like any gyaoppi you have three choices, fish, icecream? and water.
Then the next is the first game which is fishing, you have to time it right and pull the fish out! Very cute animation for this and a nice different game.
The next icon is the health icon. He hasn't needed it yet, especially since I just started him up so for now he just says NO!
Then of course we have the typical discipline icon which I also haven't been able to use, but i'm fairly certain it'll be the same animation as the gyaoppi one, i'll edit if it isn't.
Then we have the second game which you can't play right away, it's something that opens up later when he grows up but you basically kick a soccer ball around! Very cute, it, I imagine looks a lot like the sticker on the front of the packaging :).

Then for the bottom row of icons you have the smiley face icon which when selected shows you his happiness. I thought it was kinda funny that they had a separate icon for just happiness...but i've seen this on one other gyaoppi styled pet I just can't remember which one.
Then the toilet icon, which you can see from my pictures when selected after his made a mess it shows a big toilet and then another picture which I didn't show saying WC: "WC is water closet, I believe? It's an older term for washroom/bathroom (in regards to your penpy review)" -Beetleboo lol. When he does make a mess you'll see him sort of looking side to side with an unhappy face and the poop right next to him on the ground.
The second to last icon is a penguin (again cute) which is where you find all your stats. Age, weight, hunger, discipline and sleeping.
The final icon is your light on and off, I'm not entirely sure if he will fall asleep on his own and then you have to put him to sleep or if you can just put him to bed anytime, I will have to figure that one out. Regardless it's pretty cute, he sleeps in a fridge :).

the alert icon is the last one and that goes off for all your basic virtual pet needs

So far it seems like a rather simple pet, a little less demanding maybe than even the dinopet, but it's very cute so I am anxious to see what else happens. I would recommend this pet to anyone who loves non tamagotchi vpets, though maybe suggest running it along with something more demanding to keep from getting bored of it.

Thanks for visiting and let me know if you have any questions about this pet or any other virtual pets!!!

Dinopet

Dinopet

I picked up this fun pet that was simply named "dinopet" on the packaging. It runs a lot like a gyaoppi pet with some differences. The weather feature activates more often on the true gyaoppi pets it seems where i'm at day four/five with this dinopet and have yet to use the weather feature. Other than that it's a decently easy going pet, demanding enough to keep you interested and cute, but not too over demanding where you have to give up your life in order to see the darn thing grow up.

The features are food (where you pick from what looks like a burger, a ice cream and a drink), game 1 is the classic guess which side he's going to face, then you have medicine for when he's sick (which he does seem to get sick often, but then again I ignore him for long periods of time sometimes), the discipline icon (he will refuse to play games when he needs discipline) game 2 which is a high or low type guessing game with cards, the weather icon (which i've still yet to see in action), the clean mess icon for when he poops, your stats icon and then finally your lights on and off icon. There is also the alert icon.

So it's your fairly basic pet, though a lot of virutal pets I suppose have only one game. The two games are nice.

He's pretty darn cute and his animations though simple are adorable.

While he runs off the gyaoppi programming he has different evolutions from the gyaoppi which is nice since I already had a gyaoppi and wanted this one to be different.

I'm not done raising him yet, i've got one last evolution to go till he's full grown. (once he grows fully I plan to tab him up and move to another pet)
I really have enjoyed this vpet a lot and will run him again sometime later! Especially since he has multiple evolutions at the end. I'm not sure yet what determines what he evolves into...or if it's random so i'll have to experiment sometime!

This is the front of the packaging
(and the back in which you can see the evolutions! I'm curious what that question mark is below the "dead" form)

More images below of different forms and instructions inside of the packaging

All in all I definitely recommend this pet! Fun and rather easy going but not boring!

Hello fellow virtual pet collectors and curious visitors! Welcome to my new blog! Here I plan to review, talk about, show off, and log various strange, common and unique virtual pets that we all enjoyed as kids (and maybe even still as adults! :p)

I look forward to what is to come and invite you all to visit and chat, strike up conversation with me, ask questions and etc. While my collection is still maybe in the more newbie stage I plan to become as knowledgeable as possible!
